EARLY BYZANTINE WARES FROM EPHESUS Susanne Lochner A contribution to the pottery production in Ephesus during the Early Byzantine period will be given by the presentation of three different unguentaria-shaped vessel types. Aside from the presentation of their petrographic thin sections, typology, distribution, and chronology the terminology of these types has to be discussed on the basis of origin, shape, and possible contents.
