LECTURE: Samuel Cohn
The Black Death: the end of a paradigm?

Tuesday 23 Janaury
Lecture Room - 6 pm

Professor of Medieval History, University of Glasgow

Prof. Cohn argues that the Black Death and the successive plagues of the later middle ages were not modern rat-based bubonic plague, and because historians and scientists have assumed an identity between the two periods of plague, the epidemiology of the former has yet to be explored. Prof. Cohn will also speculate on the cultural significance of the Black Death's epidemiology.
