EXHIBITION: Art of Display: Toshiko Mori and Verde Visconti

Tuesday 26 November
Gallery - 6pm

The exhibition features site-specific installations by two prominent architects who have worked extensively with systems of representation. Mori, the author of well-known interior architecture (Comme des Garçons, Issey Miyake), is Chair of the Graduate School of Design at Harvard University in Boston, Massachusetts and was named a William A Bernoudy Visiting Architect at the American Academy in Rome. Visconti is a noted set designer (Ripley's Game), who has worked extensively with Cinecittà in Rome. She is also an interior architect for private clients such as Leonardo Mondadori and the Bulgari residence. A twenty-first century American notion of display will be contrasted with an essentially Italian understanding of design and style. Issues of presentation, decor, display, and the terrain of architecture will be made manifest. Curated by Cornelia Lauf.

Note: The exhibit will open on Thursdays from 4pm to 7pm and Saturdays from 3pm to 7pm until February 2, 2003.
