CONCERT: Ciompi Quartet

Wednesday 9 April
Villa Aurelia - 9:15pm

Praised by audiences and critics worldwide, the Ciompi Quartet has established itself as one of the leading ensembles in the United States. The group brings rare maturity and insight to its performances, projecting the heart and soul of music ranging from well-known masterpieces to works by today's most communicative composers. Their interest in the vitality of the string quartet as a medium has led them to introduce new works each season. In the past two seasons alone they have commissioned no less than seven new quartets. The Ciompi Quartet is named for its founder, renowned violinist Giorgio Ciompi. The group will perform works by Haydn, Beethoven, and Scott Lindroth.
