Taking as his point of departure the famous fresco by Luca Signorelli in the chapel of S. Brizio in the Orvieto Cathedral, Rusconi will trace the fortunes of a particular literary genre, the illustrated pamphlets on the life of the Antichrist that were printed and circulated in Germany, France, Italy, and Spain in the late 15th and early 16th centuries. He will focus on the iconographic representations of Antichrist and his followers as preachers. Note: The lecture will be in Italian.
