LECTURE: David Quint

Thursday 5 December
Lecture Room - 6pm

Quint's lecture describes the crisis that the newness of the Americas produced in Italian intellectual circles that both hungered for religious renewal and were alarmed by Protestant innovation. Surveying writers from Columbus himself to Giordano Bruno, the talk examines their disputes over whether America marks a break in history and in religious experience.
