CONFERENCE: Role Models: Identity and Assimilation in the Roman World and in Early Modern Italy

  • Monday 17 March and Tuesday 18 March, hosted by the American Academy in Rome

  • Wednesday 19 March, hosted by the British School at Rome

This international three-day conference addresses the appearance, function, and influence of role models in the ancient and late antique Roman world and in Early Modern Italy. Speakers will include, among others, Eve D'Ambra (FAAR'86), Suzanne Dixon, Julia Hairston, Tonio Hölscher, Ingrid Rowland, and Susan Walker. The conference is co-sponsored by the British School at Rome, where the third session on March 19 will be held.
