Silent Auction
to Benefit the Library
of the American Academy in Rome

In fall 2005, the Academy began a new collaboration with Fendi, the eighty-year old fashion house based in Rome.  This partnership celebrates our commitment to Rome, to art, and to design.  To inaugurate this partnership, Fellows of the American Academy in Rome - artists, architects, designers, poets, and scholars - were invited to create new interpretations of the Roman God Janus, who is the identifying icon of both the Academy and Fendi.  The forty works were originally exhibited at the NY Fendi store last November, for the store opening.

We are now offering these works through a silent auction, which will benefit the Library.  We will be accepting bids until the Library closes in August, 2006.  Below are the images and starting bids. Dimensions are approximate (HxWxD) and indicate the framed size. Framed works are in plain poplar frames (unless otherwise noted). Three-dimensional works are not framed. If you would like further information or wish to make a bid in absentia, please contact Susan Mathisen, 212.751.7200 x36, or email s.mathisen@aarome.org. Artists included in the silent auction are:
