This conference, organized by friends, colleagues, and students, will encompass three areas within Prof. Bell’s wide-ranging career: the debate on the ethics of the antiquities trade, the excavations at Morgantina, and his tenure as Andrew W. Mellon Professor-in-Charge of the School of Classical Studies at the American Academy in Rome (1991-92, 1993-96).
