Ancient Rome as reconstructed in the photographs of Giuseppe Gatteschi

Thursday 9 December
6pm-8pm - Exhibition Opening
Photographic Archive, Via Angelo Masina, 5B

The archaeologist Giuseppe Gatteschi used excavation photographs as the basis for reconstruction drawings of ancient Roman monuments and sites, creating pairs of images that anticipate the layered approach of today's guidebooks and websites. This exhibition, selected from the Gatteschi Collection of the Photographic Archive of the American Academy in Rome, is curated by Alessandra Capodiferro with the assistance of Lavinia Ciuffa, Francesca Romoli and Elizabeth Janus.

The exhibition will be open from 9 to 22 December 2004 and from 11 to 17 January 2005, Tuesday and Thursday from 4pm to 6pm or by appointment, tel: 06/5846281.
Please note that the American Academy in Rome requires all visitors attending events to present a legal document of identification.
