Best known for his Guggenheim Museum restoration and addition in New York City, Charles Gwathmey has conducted a wide range of prestigious commissions. He has served on the faculty of Pratt Institute, Cooper Union, Princeton University, Columbia University, the University of Texas, and the University of California at Los Angeles in addition to maintaining his architectural practice.

A member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters, he holds the Medal of Honor from the American Institute of Architects and a Lifetime Achievement award from the New York State Society of Architects. He is a founder of Gwathmey Siegel & Associates Architects and is the William A. Bernoudy Resident in Architecture at the American cademy in Rome this spring.
