Lecture Room Mary Heilmann was born in San Francisco, grew up in Los Angeles, and now lives and works in New York. She will speak on her life and her work as a painter. Of her work she has said, "I think about new ideas for paintings while looking at the ones that are already finished. They relate to each other. They have poetic titles that reference thoughts or memories that are going through my head as I make them. They tell stories the way songs do."
