Azar Nafisi is the author of Reading
Lolita in Tehran and a professor at Johns
Hopkins University. She won a
fellowship from Oxford and taught
English literature at the University of
Tehran from which she was expelled
for refusing to wear a veil. She left Iran
for the USA in 1997. She has written
for The New York Times, The Washington
Post, The Wall Street Journal, and The New
Republic.
Azar Nafisi is Resident in Literature at
the American Academy in Rome.
