The lecture will discuss the new archeological excavations at the Villa of Massenzio on the Appian Way, conducted by the Sovrintendenza dei Beni Culturali del Comune di Roma, Kalamazoo College and University of Colorado at Boulder. The objective of the excavations is to investigate the Palace area, which still presents considerable gaps in the overall layout of the building, and to try to establish a precise stratigrafic record for the site from the Republican villa to the Villa of Herodotus Atticus to the Villa of Massenzio.
