Eligibility
The Classical Summer School is open to graduate students (and mature undergraduates) of Classics, ancient history, Classical art or Classical archaeology; and to middle school, high school, and two-year college teachers, a significant component of whose teaching involves Latin, ancient Greek or Classical civilization. Preference will be given to those who have a Master's degree in one of these areas and have not studied previously in Italy.

Tuition
$1,400. Tuition plus fees, room and board will total approximately $4,600, excluding round-trip airfare and personal expenses. Please refer to the scholarships section below for ways to help finance participation in the program.

Scholarships
A number of awards from the American Academy in Rome, regional and state classical associations and the Classical Society of the American Academy in Rome are available, as well as awards from the Fulbright Commission*. Award amounts may range from $50 to over $4,800, and deadlines for scholarship applications range from Fall 2002 to Spring 2003. Applicants for all scholarships MUST ALSO submit a complete and separate Classical Summer School application to the Director.
