Overview

The Raiziss/de Palchi Traveling Fellowship of the Academy of American Poets is awarded every two years to a United States citizen for the translation of modern Italian poetry into English. Recipients reside at the American Academy in Rome for six weeks.

The 2021 fellowship will be given to enable an American translator to travel, study, or otherwise advance a significant work in progress. The Academy of American Poets invites applications from American translators currently engaged in the translation of twentieth-century Italian poetry. The winning translator will receive an award of $25,000 and a five-week residency at the American Academy in Rome.

Submissions for the fellowship will be accepted between September 15, 2020, and February 15, 2021.

The judges are Maria Esposito Frank, Giorgio Mobili, and Michael Palma.
