Rahul Mehrotra - The Kinetic City

Leading architect Rahul Mehrotra will present a lecture and exhibition partnered with the American Academy in Rome and the MAXXI Museum entitled The Kinetic City as part of the British School's yearlong series of architecture events entitledUrban Landscapes-- Indian Case Studies, which has involved Indian art historian Deepak Ananth, anthropologist Franco La Cecla, architect Bijoy Jain (Studio Mumbai) and writer William Dalrymple. Rahul Mehrotra's lecture will concern the physical landscape of dystopia, optimism and incremental development that flourishes alongside the Static City that is encoded in architecture and appears on maps, and the intersection between the Kinetic City and the Static City.

Mehrotra practices architecture in Mumbai and teaches at the Graduate School of Design at Harvard University, where he is professor of urban design and planning and chair of the Department of Urban Planning and Design.
