Nathan Thrall’s project is an immersive work of narrative nonfiction set in Israel/Palestine. Like his previous book, A Day in the Life of Abed Salama: Anatomy of a Jerusalem Tragedy, which won the Pulitzer Prize in General Nonfiction in 2024, his new project will take the shape of a nonfiction novel. Focused on members of a single IDF platoon in Gaza, the book will draw readers into larger questions of history, morality, belonging, and the search for self.
