Fellow Shoptalks
Federico Gardella – Anamorphosis of Time

Federico Gardella explores music as a sculpture of time, a place of listening suspended between memory and invention. How many ideas of time coexist in a single piece of music? Are we able to feel this “poliphony” that makes music a complex and enigmatic form of art?
During this shoptalk, the flutist Manuel Zurria will play live Gardella’s piece Cinque cori notturni sotto la costa for alto flute (as an example of his recent work).
Federico Gardella is the Marcello Lotti Italian Fellow in Music at the American Academy in Rome. He is a composer and a professor at the Conservatory of Monopoli.
The event will be held in English.
