Peter N. Miller – What Does it Mean to Think about ‘Conservation’ in Rome?

Rome is the historical capital of cultural heritage conservation. At a time when climate change threatens to damage more and more of what we all hold dear, conservation becomes more important than ever. What can we learn about the kind of conservation we will need for the future from its past? And what, specifically, can looking at this question through the lens of Rome come to teach us that we might not learn anywhere else? Finally, what does this question mean for an institution that has supported the study of conservation for the past four decades?
The lecture will be held in English.
This event, to be presented in person at the Academy, is closed to the public. It will, however, be streamed live on Zoom.
