The American Academy in Rome will participate in the fourteenth edition of Open House Roma and offer guided tours in Italian of the Villa Chiaraviglio Library Annex and the McKim, Mead & White Building, including the Cortile, the Arthur & Janet C. Ross Library, and the Bass Garden.

Circolo Gianicolense is a joint seminar series for fellows at three foreign research institutions at the Gianicolo: The Norwegian Institute in Rome, The American Academy in Rome, and Institutum Romanum Finlandiae.

The American Academy in Rome will showcase the work of its Rome Prize Fellows in the humanities with the second annual Open Stacks: Scholars’ Presentations. The event will feature a variety of short talks highlighting the research that the Fellows have undertaken during the year, providing insights into their evidence, research questions, and methodologies. Themes uniting the work they present are Knowledge Across Geographies and Race Across Time.

The annual McKim Medal Gala honors individuals whose work internationally, most particularly in Italy and in the United States, has contributed significantly to the arts and humanities.

The American Academy in Rome invites the public to experience the work of its Rome Prize and Italian Fellows during Open Studios 2026. This special event offers a rare opportunity to step inside their studios, discover the McKim, Mead & White Building and take part in performances.

This is the third in a series of five lectures on Material Environments, hosted jointly by the American Academy in Rome and the British School at Rome over the academic year 2025–26. Through five evening lectures, speakers will present new research on environments of ancient and post-Classical Rome and Italy. Changing technologies of research provide new answers to questions about the experience and effect of landscape and climate. These lectures showcase the ways in which environmental considerations recast our study of the past.
