Jen Baird & Sophie Hay – Archaeology and Photography

The photographs of the exhibition Women & Ruins prompt to question what the complex relationship between photography and archaeology. Both scientific disciplines, open to experimentation and interpretation, photography is often seen as a tool for archaeologists. By comparing various contexts from Dura Europa to women archaeologists at Pompei, scholars Jen Baird and Sophie Hay will open up the two fields by describing the various contexts in which archaeologists and photographers worked.
