In pursuit of creating new images inspired by the timeless forms of Rome’s treasure trove of artworks, Patrick Byrnes will focus on four lines of artistic inquiry during his three-month residency: detailed drawings after sculpture, with a particular focus on the collections at Palazzi Massimo and Altemps; plein air oil sketches; compositional studies after Renaissance and Baroque paintings; and studio portrait and figure sessions with live models.
