Sample Bequest Language

One of the simplest ways to make a planned gift to the Academy is through a bequest in your will or a provision in your living trust. You may indicate that the American Academy in Rome is to be the recipient of a specific amount, a percentage of your estate, or a particular piece of property.

I hereby give, devise, and bequeath to the American Academy in Rome (Tax I.D. #13-1623881) $_________ [or] ____ % of my total estate to be used for its general purposes.

Restricted Bequests

While the majority of bequests that AAR receives are unrestricted and used wherever the need is greatest, you may wish to designate your bequest for a particular purpose, such as to establish an endowment fund, to name a space, or to support Rome Prize Fellowships, the Library, the preservation of our historic buildings and gardens, or other projects.

We suggest that you consult with AAR in determining which purposes and projects are most in keeping with your wishes.
